One golden rule of fashion is to steer clear from horizontal stripes. I beg to differ. They have their time and place. And this spring, it’s on your body.
As always, there are some body shapes and some people who just don’t “do” stripes, and that is all well and good. To each their own wardrobe choices.
But stripes are classic, and this spring they are bright, different and completely fun.
Check out some stripes on polyvore.com.
The one thing about stripes most people hate is that they accentuate parts of the body some want to tone down. Horizontal stripes make butts, boobs and guts look bigger.
There is definitely some substantial validity to that thought, but really, it is learning how to wear a striped article of clothing that can make you go from bad to amazing.
This week’s set in polyvore includes a range of striped dresses, with some fresh patterns and colors; each one could compliment a different body type.
If you have larger breasts, try a “V” or sideways stripe. This draws attention towards the overall body shape, and less about drawing eyes directly to your chest. Awkward elevator eyes will have to find somewhere else to gawk.
Stripes are fun, kooky and can be down right hot depending on whether you are going light summer dress, nautical or mini tank dress.
Honestly, stripes can be pulled off; it’s basically taking a fashion leap and showing no fear. Come out of your closet filled with safe outfits and live dangerously.
