CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Jury selection is under way in the trial of a University of Virginia lacrosse player accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, a player on the women's lacrosse team.

Media outlets report that 24-year-old George Huguely V of Chevy Chase, Md., pleaded not guilty Monday in Charlottesville Circuit Court to first-degree murder, robbery, burglary, breaking and entering, grand larceny and murder in the commission of a felony. Twelve jurors and three alternates are to be selected from 160 people.

Yeardley Love was found dead in her apartment on May 3, 2010. Police said Huguely told investigators he kicked in Love's bedroom door and then shook her, causing her head to hit a wall several times.

Huguely's attorneys contend the 22-year-old Love, of Cockeysville, Md., died accidentally.
