Pioneer Valley Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO holds legislative breakfast

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) -  The Pioneer Valley Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO hosted a Legislative Breakfast Friday at the Castle of Knights in Chicopee on Friday.

The breakfast allowed local unions, affiliates and community groups to voice their concerns to lawmakers and legislative leaders.

Some of those concerns included the Family Leave Act and raising the minimum wage in the state to $15 an hour.

"We've been able to collect signatures right along," PVCLC President Fiore Grassetti told 22News. "There's a new round of signatures that are going to be needed so we expect to easily fill that quota. People are behind these bills and we're looking forward to hopefully seeing them pass sometime in the near future.

The council brought up several other concerns that they say are important to protecting workers in the community.

Around 200 people attended Friday's breakfast.
