Pet of the Week: Cupcake

In this edition of Pet of the Week, we were introduced to Cupcake, a 5 year old Domestic Short hair cat. Carmine DiCenso told us all about this adorable cat!

Name:  Cupcake
Location: Springfield: Dakin Humane Society
Breed:  Domestic Short Hair
Gender:  F
Age:  5 Years

Hi, I'm Cupcake!  I'm a quiet kitty who doesn't need to be the center of attention.  In fact, I'm a bit of a scaredy cat and might be a nervous Nellie when you first meet me.  Once I warm up to you, I'll be an affectionate companion who gets along with adults and little ones alike.  If the little ones are looking for a playmate, however, I'm not really into playtime and may not be a good choice for kids wanting a kitty who does leaps and bounds.  I like my "me" time, but I welcome a soft pet on the head.  When you visit me, you may notice that I sound like Darth Vader. The staff can tell you more about the frog in my throat when you talk to them.  Come on down and spend some time together.

An adopter should expect that Cupcake will have an ongoing issues related to the polyp/nasal discharge and will require ongoing treatment with their veterinarian.

Other Events

Free Feral Spay Day Clinic - The Last Wednesday of Each Month at our Springfield Adoption & Education Center. Recently Dakin launched a once-a-month free clinic for spay/neuter surgeries for feral cats.  These clinics are for people who humanely trap feral (or community) cats, bring them to Dakin for spay/neuter surgery, then return them to their outdoor colonies, which is known as TNR (trap/neuter/return).

If you are trapping feral cats in your neighborhood for spay/neuter surgeries, Dakin can help you by offering free surgeries once a month.  If you'd like to take advantage of this clinic, you need to register in advance online.  We're currently taking bookings for our next clinic on Wednesday, June 27 at this web site:
