SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Nearly one year and a half after Springfield pizza deliverydriver Corey Lind was kidnapped and killed, the man accused ofmurdering him is set to go on trial.
Alex Morales is charged with allegedly robbing, kidnappingand then killing 20 year-old Corey Lind in December, 2007.
Morales allegedly ordered a pizza, luring Lind to aSpringfield neighborhood, where he attacked him. Prosecutors allegeMorales intended stealing Lind's delivery car.
Lind's body was found several days later in Monson. He hadbeen stabbed to death.
As his alleged killer is set to go on trial, Corey Lind'sfamily is pushing a measure called "Corey's Law".
That proposed law would require all delivery employers toprovide employees with equipment that would allow them immediatecontact with local police in case they encounter any dangeroussituations while on the job.
It also proposes that delivery employees have a trackingdevice in their vehicle, a noise alarm for their delivery vehicle,and the right to decline a delivery assignment due to concern fortheir own safety.
