NEW YORK, New York (AP) - Tough economic news and the new Obama administration are drivingTV viewers to the evening news, a broadcast staple that's beenwritten off in the past.
ABC, CBS and NBC newscasts all had ratings milestones last week.Monday night's telecast of NBC's "Nightly News," the ratingsleader, was its most-watched broadcast in three years, according toNielsen Media Research.
Meanwhile, CBS had its biggest weekly average in two years, andABC its biggest in a year
Oddly, these broadcasts hadn't shown much of a surge duringthe election campaign, at least not as much as the cable newsnetworks.
