WINCHESTER, Conn. (AP) — A former finance director for Winchester has been arrested on larceny charges following the discovery that $2 million was missing from town coffers.
Fifty-eight-year-old Henry Centrella Jr. was arrested Friday at his Winchester home by state police detectives.
Detectives began investigating the possible misappropriate of funds in January after an audit last year revealed discrepancies in the Litchfield County town's financial records. Along with a forensic accounting firm, police reviewed five years' worth of financial records.
Centrella is charged with five counts of larceny.
It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney and a phone number listed for his home rang unanswered.
