GRANBY, Conn. (AP) - A man from Southwick faces several charges after police say he struck a Granby, Connecticut police officer with his car.
Officer Mark Garofalo was hit on Route 10 just after 6 p.m. on Sunday while standing outside of his cruiser. Police say he had stopped to assist the driver of a disabled tractor trailer.
Thirty-one-year-old Daniel Kupruck of Southwick is charged with operating under the influence, operating without insurance, operating under suspension, possession of drug paraphernalia, and striking a police officer with a vehicle.
He is scheduled to appear in Enfield Superior Court on Aug. 12.
Police say Officer Garofalo was treated and released Sunday from a local hospital after suffering unspecified injuries.
Attempts to reach Kupruck Monday were not successful. A phone number listed for him had been disconnected.
