OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. (WWLP) - Rescue crews have been unable to locate a West Springfield father of 10 who fell into the water near the mouth of the Connecticut River on Sunday.
The U.S. Coast Guard searched Sunday evening and on Monday for Yuri Kirvpichev, but suspended their search after 10:00 Monday night.
According to a Coast Guard spokesperson, they had searched for Kirvpichev for a total of 30 hours, and covered about 140 square nautical miles in the area of Old Saybrook and Old Lyme.
A Coast Guard cutter and a rescue helicopter were used in the search.
Lt. Jeff Janaro of the Coast Guard told 22News that the 58 year-old had fallen into the water on Sunday, after his fishing pole went overboard and he attempted to retrieve it.
No information was available on if of when the search would resume.
