INDIAN ORCHARD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield firefighters worked for more than two hours to put out a brush fire in the city's Indian Orchard neighborhood.
Dennis Leger, aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, told 22News that crews were called in just before 2:00 after the fire started near the end of Michon Street, which is not far from Lake Lorraine.
A fire engine and a special fire truck equipped for fighting brush fires were there.
Leger says that no homes are being threatened by the fire.
Recent dry conditions, combined with gusty winds have increased the risk of brush fires in the area.
