When firefighters arrived and plugged one of their hoses into a hydrant on the street, they noticed there wasn't any water coming out.
Water was seen bubbling up through a hole in the street near 12 Chase Ave.
Firefighters had to scramble to find hydrants to plug into to get enough water to put on the fire.
Two homes were destroyed in the fire, and seven others were damaged.
