SCHAGTICOKE, N.Y. (AP) - Police in Franklin County have arrested a 22 year-old man from New York, who is accused of bludgeoning his stepfather to death and severely beating his mother.
Anthony Repp was taken into custody Friday morning in Deerfield, about 60 miles from his family's home in Schaghticoke, N.Y. Police say Repp had hopped a freight train.
Police responding to a domestic violence call Thursday night found 62-year-old Michael Matala and 58-year-old Cynthia Matala beaten in their front lawn. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. She is listed in critical condition.
Police searched overnight for Repp, who was at the home during the incident.
Police say they're trying to extradite Repp to New York to face a second-degree murder charge.
Schaghticoke is located north of Albany and Troy, just east of the Hudson River.
