Police dog locates suspect wanted on felony warrants in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG, Mass. (WWLP) - A police dog was able to locate a suspect who ran off on foot while officers attempted to serve a warrant on June 8.

Massachusetts State Police posted on their Facebook page that Williamsburg police requested K9 assistance after a failed attempt to serve a suspect wanted on felony warrants around 12 p.m. that Friday.

State Police said the officers and troopers set a perimeter while waiting for assistance. When K9 Cairo arrived, he tracked the suspect into the woods and along an overgrown trail.

In an effort to chase the suspect once he was located, police say the tracking team including Cairo, got stuck in knee-deep swamp mud.

After several attempts to stop the suspect after he was located by Cairo, State Police say additional backup joined the K9 team and was able to catch the suspect and take him into custody.
