HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Maggie Ramirez says she owes her life to Stephanie O'Brien. Maggie and Stephanie work together at the Hilton Hotel in Holyoke.
According to Maggie, "It was very scary, very scary moment in my life."
Maggie had suffered a concussion when she cracked her head against a concrete flowerpot. She struggled in and out of consciousness, in the laundry room, which is located in another part of the hotel.
Maggie needed help badly and Stephanie ran to her side. Maggie said, "A lot of blood was all over the place, but she still managed to cover my head with towels, still calming me down, to Stephanie, my guardian angel, I think I owe her my life."
Stephanie told 22News, "When you see someone you love and you really care about in pain or hurt, it's just instinct, at that point. I just wanted to help her, to make sure that she was okay. I don't really consider my self a hero. I'm just a person who wanted to make sure my friend was okay. We've always had that friendship, its a little closer now. We do have a close bond, I believe, especially after that happened."
"Thank god, thank you Stephanie, you're my guardian angel," said Maggie.
Stephanie O'Brien and her fellow Hometown Heroes will be honored at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, the morning of March 28th.
