SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield police are investigating a real estate deal gone bad in Springfield.
Julio Garay and his family called the 22News I-Team after they were told to leave the Wallace Street home they'd just rented.
He says they were mailed a house key after signing a lease and sending money through Western Union.
They moved in, and a day later, the homeowner told them to leave.
Now, the family claims they've been scammed.
"We got paperwork, we got signatures, we have everything we did Western Union. We sent almost $2,200 dollars and yesterday we sent the last $200 dollars to this person which it looks like it's not the real landlord," said Julio Garay of Springfield, the brother of the alleged victim.
The homeowner told the 22News I-Team off camera that his real estate key lock-box was stolen off the home he's trying to sell, not rent.
He says he gave the family some money and a few days to move their things out of the home.
