SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - In a 22News follow-up, workers from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation are out along Hall of Fame Avenue in Springfield, doing clean-up of overgrown plants.
The 22News I-Team reported last week that the eight corner terraces along Hall of Fame (West Columbus) Avenue, Union Street, and Broad Street have been neglected and overgrown.
It turns out that those terraces, despite the fact that they abut Interstate 91, are actually the Springfield DPW’s responsibility, and they have agreed to take care of them.
Still, some other areas, such as those surrounding the I-91 onramps and offramps, are MassDOT responsibility, and their crews are at work clearing up those areas.
Enshrinement at the Basketball Hall of Fame is September 8.
