PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) - The 22News I-Team discovered the Host Agreement between Mohegan Sun and Palmer could be finalized on Wednesday and signed on Friday. The Town Council will get their first look at it either on Friday or Monday.
The Town Council will then need to approve a referendum date, which has to take place between 60-90 days from when the document is signed. A town wide vote would then take place in either October or November.
Mohegan Sun will likely compete with MGM Springfield and Hard Rock New England (West Springfield) for the sole Western Massachusetts gaming license. Springfield has already passed its referendum. West Springfield will hold its vote on September 10th. All the companies also have to have the Massachusetts Gaming Commission clear them for suitability. That decision is expected at some point in the late summer or early Fall.
