WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Update: Town Council President Kathleen Bourque told 22News that she didn't receive the notice for the meeting until 6:17pm. Special meetings need to be posted 48 hours in advance, so Friday's vote could not happen.
Instead, to avoid any issues, the Town Council will have the special meeting on Tuesday of next week.
The West Springfield Town Council will vote on Tuesday to approve a September 10th referendum date for Hard Rock's casino project.
Town Councilor Brian Griffin told the 22News I-Team four councilors called for this vote, not the Council President. The council will need a majority to approve the referendum. Hard Rock requested a September 10th vote so not to conflict with the "Big E".
The special meeting will be held at 5:00pm.
Griffin told 22News he will likely chair the meeting since the Council President Kathleen Bourque may not be able to attend.
