CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - On Tuesday, October 8th, a Democratic and Republican Primary will be held for voters in the Massachusetts 2nd Hampden & Hampshire Senate District.
Winners of the primary will face off on Tuesday, November 5, to fill the seat vacated by State Senator Michael Knapik of Westfield. Knapik resigned to take a position at Westfield State University.
On Sunday, September 29th, 22News InFocus will air 2 half hour debates with the candidates in this race. The Democratic debate will be between Holyoke City Councilor David Bartley and Easthampton Mayor Michael Tautznik. The Republican debate will be between Westfield State Representative Don Humason and Michael Franco of the Holyoke Veterans Services Department.
These will be Lincoln-Douglas style debates where the candidates will question each other, with time allowed for opening and closing statements.
The cities and towns in the 2nd Hampden and Hampshire Senate District: Blandford, Chester, Chicopee, Easthampton, Granville, Holyoke, Montgomery, Russell, Southampton, Southwick, Tolland and Westfield.
