Greenfield residents seek repairs to Bank Row sidewalk

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Greenfield residents are concerned about the condition of the sidewalk on Bank Row.

There is concrete missing from one section of the sidewalk in front of the first National Bank Building. Mayor William Martin said they're waiting on an engineer to approve construction of a new sidewalk on Bank Row.

Millers Falls resident John Parks rides a motorized wheelchair to get around, and said the sidewalk's dangerous, especially for people with disabilities. He told 22News, "There's other people in a wheelchair or in a power chair, or even walking. I just would like this fixed."

Mayor Martin told 22News the city recently acquired a state grant to improve Greenfield's sidewalks, but the city council may need to approve emergency funds to help pay for a new sidewalk on Bank Row.

Martin expects construction to begin on the Bank Row sidewalk before July.
