Churches offer prayers for Paris during Sunday services

People of all faiths here in Western Massachusetts are mourning the victims of the attacks

Sy Becker - CHICOPEE Mass. (WWLP) - In Western Massachusetts, houses of worship Sunday offered prayers for the dead and wounded from Friday night's Paris terrorist bloodshed.

At St. Rose De Lima Roman Catholic Church in Chicopee's Aldenville neighborhood, many parishioners felt a deep kinship with the French. Many Aldenville families are of French-Canadian descent.

One longtime parishioner expressed his feelings for 22News. Chad Ryan said, "It's a terrible tragedy here at St. Rose feels it's unbelievable. We can't comprehend what's happened to all these families. Here in this French community of Aldenville we have many ties to French people in Europe, in Paris."
