Victim of Springfield train collision identified

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Authorities have identified the woman who was killed when her SUV struck a train in Springfield early Saturday morning.

According to Hampden District Attorney Office Spokesperson Jim Leydon, Kenisha Forbes of Springfield was driving her car when it collided with a freight train on Memorial drive.

Forbes was freed from her SUV by Springfield firefighters and taken to Baystate Medical Center where she later died from her injuries. 

Leydon said there is an open and on-going investigation of the crash.
