NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (WWLP) - An autopsy has been conducted on a North Adams elderly woman, whose lifeless body was found in her home Tuesday.
Authorities say they are treating the death of 84-year-old Ellen DePaoli as a homicide. She was found dead at her Walker Street home Tuesday night.
The District Attorney's office is not releasing any details about the death because of the ongoing investigation.
Berkshire District Attorney David F. Capeless stated, “This is a very active, ongoing police investigation. Anytime one or our citizens, particularly one of our seniors, is killed, there is cause for concern along with grief. However, based upon the information that investigators have developed, we consider this to be an isolated incident and North Adams residents should not be unduly alarmed.”
North Adams Police are also searching for DePaoli's car. It's a blue, 2005 Ford Taurus with Massachusetts plates 8-8-Z-A-2-7.
Anyone who sees the vehicle should contact North Adams Police at (413) 664-4944.
