DEERFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Franklin County prep school, Deerfield Academy, admits two of its former teachers sexually abused students.
One teacher, Bryce Lambert has died; the other teacher named is Peter Hindle. Hindle worked at the school for more than 40 years and retired in 2000.
Deerfield Academy released an internal investigation report over the weekend. The report says Hindle had sexual contact with more than one student.
One victim was identified as a boy.
The school admitted its administration in the 1980's could have gone further to protect victims and potential victims. The report says, in the 2000's, the administration basically ignored a letter from a student detailing acts of sexual misconduct by Hindle.
Hindle is not currently facing criminal charges, but the Academy will rename his schoolmaster's chair, forbid him from campus and remove his name from the school's squash facility.
Deerfield Academy administrators wouldn't comment on their report Monday. Through a spokesman, Deerfield academy wouldn't say if it made any financial settlements with the students involved, but did say they're not any pending legal action against the school.
