ERVING, Mass. (WWLP) - 22News reported Thursday night on a story about a 65 year-old woman who had her air conditioning stolen from her Springfield home , and with the support of viewers, we made sure she was not left in the heat.
The outcry we had asking to help the woman in Springfield was overwhelming, and it came from all areas in western Massachusetts.
Joyce Bissell was originally from the Springfield area, but moved to Erving about 25 years ago. Friday morning, when she saw 22News' story about Springfield resident Sady Quiros' air conditioning being stolen, she was outraged. She immediately called us at the station and spoke to 22News Reporter Sy Becker to see if something could be done. She was one of more than 20 callers that wanted to aid Quiros in such hot weather; offering to buy an air conditioner if we would transport it.
"Well I just got so angry when I heard this story that I knew I had to do something. So I called the station to see what I could do, and now I feel pretty good about it," Bissell said.
We made sure Sady received those air conditioners today. They were delivered to her house by a crew from the Home Depot in West Springfield.
