GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Will the weather affect your 4th of July travel plans?
Residents have long been planning on what picnics or fireworks to go to and the weather is just another factor they have to take into consideration.
AAA projects that 42.3 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the Independence Day weekend. The travel period will begin Tuesday and end on Sunday. Residents that 22News spoke with on Monday said that the usual New England weather has them prepared for their cookouts and fireworks no matter what.
"I'll still definitely go if it's raining bring a couple umbrellas and some ponchos for my kids and stuff, but I'm hoping everything still goes well so we can do everything," Alicia Morrison said.
Nicholas Wetterwald said, "It isn't going to stop me either way. It's been raining for two weeks so it doesn't bother me."
Many residents I spoke with say they are headed to the fireworks at Beacon Field here in Greenfield on Saturday. And hope that the rain and clouds will clear out by then.
