GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Franklin County residents and nurses Thursday night called to keep medical services available to patients in Greenfield.
Close to one hundred people rallied outside Baystate Franklin Medical Center.
They claim the Greenfield hospital has shifted certain services to the medical center in Springfield, making it difficult to support loved ones who require medical care.
Patti Williams of the Greenfield Health Care Initiative told 22News, "If people have kids, to live in Greenfield and have a child in the hospital in Springfield, That's a hardship for a family. So we don't think we should have to put up with that hardship."
However, Baystate Health has told 22News that services are not moving to Springfield. Patient stays are shorter, which they attribute to the way they have changed management and outpatient treatment.
