GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - No agreement was reached Wednesday night between Unionized Nurses and managers from Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield , paving the way for a 24-hour work stoppage by nurses starting Friday morning.
22News reporter Yoojin Cho was at the negotiating session that took place at the First Congregational Church in Greenfield Wednesday night. She said the talks went from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm as scheduled, but the result was the same as the previous 27 negotiating sessions.
The parties were not in the same room, and the opposing sides communicated ideas back and forth through a mediator.
As of now, the nurses plan to go on strike for 24-hours starting Friday morning at 7:00. Baystate Franklin Medical Center has said they have a contingency plan in place to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital, and the continued quality care for its patients.
It is unclear when the next negotiating session will be scheduled.
