CHICOPEE, Mass (WWLP) - A Springfield High School teacher is set to be arraigned today after allegedly attacking his Vice Principal during a job evaluation.
Police say 44-year-old Willie Vega became so enraged with his evaluation that he punched the High School of Commerce administrator in the face, causing her to fall from her chair.
The Vice-Principal alleges that Vega would not let her leave the office and that she was held against her will.
He's charged with assault and battery and kidnapping.
Firefighters in Hampshire County were hard at work trying put out a fire at a home in Westhampton.
They were called to 50 Burt Road just before 10:30 last night. Companies from Huntington, Williamsburg, Chesterfield and Northampton also helped assist.
Fire Chief Chris Norris told 22News that the fire was caused by candles that were knocked over in the living room. Everyone inside the home was able to get out safely. They will be staying with friends for the time being.
Also a decision has not been issued yet on whether South Hadley officials must disclose details of a settlement that the town paid to the family of Phoebe Prince and a new report by the FBI finds that violent crimes in Springfield were down for the first six months of 2011.
