WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - State Police Lt. John Hackett told 22News, six drivers were charged with driving under the influence on Route 5.
They say traffic was steady with 320 cars going through the checkpoint.
Lt. John Hackett told 22News more than 240 people were stopped here on West Columbus Avenue.
Police were pulling people over between 1130 pm. Friday night and 2:30 am. Saturday morning.
In total 8 people were charged with Operating under the influence.
One of which was charged with assault and battery on a police officer.
Police say holidays are just around the corner, so they want to remind people if you drink and drive you will get caught.
