SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - You may have noticed a number of people wearing blue this Tuesday; many are doing so to mark World Autism Awareness Day.
Many in Springfield held events to raise awareness of the developmental disability, which affects about 1 in 88 children.
Rosamaria Santiago of Indian Orchard has a daughter with autism. She told 22News that accessing information about autism support wasn't always as easy as it is today.
"When I got that diagnosis for her, I realized that there's not much out there. You really have to scramble to find information. Its not all in one unit," Santiago said.
