AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - The Agawam police department is investigating one of its police officers.
Paul Chenevert was arraigned Monday on assault and battery charges. He was arrested early Saturday morning.
The 22News I-Team obtained a court document. In it, the officer's wife claims after a night of drinking, an argument started. That’s when she says he dragged her across the kitchen and family room floor before dragging her outside onto the driveway. The victim refused to apply for a restraining order.
Agawam police Lt. Richard Light told 22News an internal investigation is underway, and Chenevert is currently on paid administrative leave.
Chenevert, a 13 year Agawam police veteran, is due back in court on December 20 for a pre-trial hearing.
