AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - A day after warning residents about the discovery of "soda bottle bombs" in mailboxes across Agawam, town police are announcing that they have made an arrest.
Agawam Mayor Richard Cohen and Police Detective Lieutenant Richard Light announced the arrest Thursday afternoon. The identity of the suspect has not been released at this time.
On Wednesday, Light told 22News that two small soda bottles had exploded in mailboxes, and other similar explosives were found in other mailboxes in town.
So-called "soda-bottle bombs" are pressure-activated explosives, which are made using plastic soda bottles and a combination of caustic chemicals.
According to Light, the investigation into the case continues, and more arrests are possible.
