SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) - Tuesday evening, Marcus Cadogan, from Springfield, went into the TD Bank on State Street and tried to cash a 3,000 dollar check, according to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney.
The bank teller noticed the check was one that had been reported stolen. She made a call to verify the check was one that had been stolen during a house break-in on July 13th.
Cadogen gave the teller his I.D., and the teller got the attention of Officer David Standen who was working security detail that day.
When Cadogen became suspicious he ran away, but the teller still had his I.D., according to Delaney.
Officer Standen began a chase on foot, and was soon assisted by other officers including the K9 unit.
Cadogen was found inside 115 Westford Circle hiding in the attic crawl space.
He was arrested and charged with uttering a false check, receiving stolen property, and forgery of a check. He will be arraigned Wednesday in Springfield District Court.
