WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Fourth of July is a reminder of our freedom, and the price we pay for it everyday.
Two F-15 fighter jets will fly over Springfield's Fourth of July festivities around 7:45 Wednesday night.
Major Matthew Mutti with Barnes Air National Guard Base told 22News that our nation is always defending our borders, and is extra vigilant during national holidays like Independence Day.
"During national holidays, we typically have a sensitivity to different threats out there, but we're always at a constant state of alertness. Our vigilance is important, and we need to maintain that 24 hours a day, seven days a week," Mutti said.
The F-15's at Barnes are always ready to fly. They patrol the east coast skies from Canada down to Washington, D.C.
