SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - When you put your kids on the bus in the morning, you are putting your faith in the bus driver and the school for their safety.
22News shows us one example of why your kids may not be so safe.
That ride home from school for a busload of students in Springfield got a little dangerous for the students and the other drivers on the road on Thursday.
Missy Mojica of Springfield sent us this picture you see here. Her husband took it Thursday afternoon at the intersection Wilbraham Road and Breckwood Boulevard after the student, hanging out the window while the bus was moving, threw objects at his car. It put a small crack in his windshield, but Mojica a parent of children in the Springfield School system was more concerned with the safety of the kids on the buses.
"The kids were actually coming out of the window, so more than just the damages, it is a safety concern. Who knows the life of a kid or somebody else's life could be in danger", says Mojica.
Springfield Schools spokesperson Azell Cavaan told 22News there is normally a bus monitor on these buses. She could not confirm if there was a monitor on this bus yesterday. She says when incidents happen on a bus, the students are disciplined the same as they would be if it happened on school grounds. She wouldn't comment directly about this case.
Mojica told 22News she was pleased with the school's quick response to her, but hopes they improve their safety measures and monitoring on their buses.
