SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Nearly a week after the gas explosion on Worthington Street, it's back to business for some in the entertainment district, but others are facing a long road ahead.
Harley Andrew works for his father at Tyre Trak Automotive which is directly across from the blast site.
Andrew said, "The entire landscape has changed, you look out the window now and just have to adjust."
After getting electricity and heat back on Thursday, they were able to begin repairing the damage.
Tim Andrew said, "We are very confident that we will be back it's only a question of time." 6
But it's a longer road for others; Square One's building on Chestnut Street is a total loss.
The organization has been able to find places for many of the 100 children that went there but it's not a permanent solution.
Square One has only just begun the process of rebuilding their Main Street facility that was destroyed by the tornado last year.
Harley Andrew explained, "I have been living and working on this corner since I was 8 years old and we've gone through a lot there was demolition over there, the tornado came through this corner has been hit a lot, a few different times."
The city expects to reopen all of Worthington Street on Monday.
