SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Each year, Mercy Cancer Center patients from Western Massachusetts gather for a survivors day observance.
Sunday's event at the Springfield Elk's Lodge was highlighted by the survivor's day release of balloons.
Each with a message of thanks from the men and women diagnosed with cancer.
Lisa Domino, a cacer survivor told 22News, "It's a difficult journey so the mercy cancer center is wonderful. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 6 years ago"
"To celebrate with other survivors is an honor and a privilege, it's an honor and a privilege to help take care of patients and it's wonderful," Nancy Englbrech told 22News.
The heartfelt messages and patients releasing balloons has been a tradition during the observance of survivors day.
