WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The town of West Springfield has hired a legal consultant to review Hard Rock's casino proposals and the new Massachusetts gaming law.
Jonathan Silverstein from law firm Kopelman and Paige met with West Springfield residents and Hard Rock representatives Wednesday night. Silverstein told 22News his firm will help the town understand the state gambling law because a big development project like a casino requires careful review of regulations.
"We are still relatively early in the process, but the city has been hearing from the developer's consultants with respect to traffic mitigation, economic impacts, and all that information will be used in negotiating an agreement that's in the best interest of the city," said Silverstein.
The Casino Commission will meet again next week with Hard Rock representatives. Hard Rock is expected to reveal more details of their traffic study.
