SPRINGFIELD, Mass. *(WWLP) - After further review, the Springfield Chamber of Commerce continues to support a casino in the city, but they do have some concerns.
This week, the Chamber sent a letter to Mayor Domenic Sarno and the Massachusetts Gaming Commission . The major concerns are for small businesses in the area of the casino, for employing Springfield residents, and for how the entire city could benefit from the resort, rather than just one area of town.
Chamber President Jeffrey Ciufrreda told 22News that they believe their concerns will be addressed.
"It's been very open, there's been no surprises there. We feel very good and we believe they'll be addressed in the host city agreement," Ciuffreda said.
Springfield may begin negotiating a host agreement with one or both of the proposed casino developers by the end of the month.
