SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The greatest show on earth is in town.
Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey rolled in on Thursday, and so did the protesters.
As circus-goers were entering, protesters from the Massachusetts Animal Rights Coaltion protested the treatment of animals in the circus.
22News spoke with both protesters and circus organizers about the treatment of the animals.
"Informing them of all the pain and suffering that the animals endure and the horrific conditions the animals have to endure," said Sheryl Becker of the Massachusetts Animal Rights Coalition.
"We have inspections at the local state and federal level at any time and we stand by our inspections each and every day when they come in," said Jason Gibson, the Production Manager for Ringling Bros.
The circus will be at the Mass Mutual center until Sunday.
