CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Construction crews will continue to work on the Davitt Bridge in Chicopee throughout the winter. Shawn Clark, project manager for Northern Construction told 22News they have put down precast concrete deck panels and will work through the winter to keep up with their schedule as possible.
MASSDOT says the project is 72% complete. In October, Clark said that the project was 291 days ahead of schedule. Originally, the project was expected to be completed in May of 2014. Based on MASSDOT's schedule, if all goes well the project could be finished sometime this summer.
The bridge connects Chicopee Street, Granby Road and Route 116 to Chicopee Center. It has been closed since May.
