SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield police say that the victim of the city's seventh murder of 2013 was found shot inside his own apartment.
Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that Fabian Pacheco, 30, was found by police inside the first floor apartment at 273 Orange Street. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center, but died of his wounds.
Springfield Police Capt. Cheryl Claprood told 22News that around 8:00 Tuesday night, the department's shot-spotter system indicated seven shots were fired in the area of 273 Orange Street.
Captain Clapprood did not know who fired the shots, but she said police are looking for an older model silver car that was seen leaving the area of the shooting. She said police were stopping any vehicles in the vicinity matching the description.
Delaney says that drugs may have motivated the shooting, as oxycodone pills, marijuana, and cocaine packaged for sale were found at the home.
No arrests have been made at this time.
