HOLLAND, Mass. (WWLP) - Two dogs are lucky to be alive tonight after falling into an icy lake in the Hampden County town of Holland.
Officer Jordan Manthorn told 22News that at around 12:30 Sunday afternoon, two fairly large dogs fell through the ice and into the frigid waters of a lake near Lakeridge Drive. Officer Manthorn described one of the dogs as in "rough shape," saying that she was in the water for a good length of time.
He said rescuers had trouble getting to the dogs because of a wall that surrounds the lake.
Both dogs were handed over to an animal control officer and taken to a local animal hospital. They're still trying to locate the dogs' owner.
