EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) - The town of East Longmeadow gathered Tuesday night to promote public safety.
The Massachusetts State Police helicopter landed at East Longmeadow High School as children gathered around to learn more about the State Police, their K-9 unit and East Longmeadow emergency crews.
Many families told 22News the National Night Out combines fun and education to raise awareness for crime prevention and community partnerships.
In regards to the event, Jake Berry told 22News, "The coolest thing I saw was definitely the helicopter landing."
"Everyone helps everybody, you know, law enforcement. It makes it safe in the town. It's a pretty good community. We can't complain. Its good living and we are fortunate, said Richard Bernier.
More than 10-thousand communities from all 50 states participated in this year's National Night Out.
This is the 30th year for the National Night Out.
