CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - U.S. diplomatic posts in 19 cities in the Muslim world will be closed at least through the end of this week.
They are closed because of potential terror threat.
The Obama Administration's decision to close the embassies comes at a time when the government tries to defend its surveillance programs.
One man spoke to 22News about why these surveillance programs could be useful.
Andrew Renfro of Westfield said, "Well I think it's better safe than sorry, I mean do we want to see one of our embassies go down because we wanted to not tap phones or anything."
He continued to say he is all for any measure to protect Americans or Americans at other embassies.
