CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - It was a co-operative effort to put out a fire that scorched the exterior of a Chicopee bowling alley Thursday night.
A report-it photo sent to 22News by Brandon Archambault showed flames flared up just to the left of the entrance to AMF Chicopee Lanes on Burnett Road, just after 7:00PM.
The flames damaged the side of the building and burned some shrubbery, but the fire never got inside the building.
However, bowlers were taking no chances. Andy Layer of Manchester, CT, told 22News, "Some of us ran back in and got our stuff, some of us just came out and been out here ever since."
Witnesses told 22News the bowling alley staff attacked the fire with buckets of water and a police officer used his fire extinguisher before the fire department arrived.
Chicopee Fire hosed down the exterior to make sure there were no smoldering embers.
No one was hurt.
