WESTFIELD, Mass (WWLP) - From Western Massachusetts to Boston, thousands of cancer survivors and their families gathered for the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks.
Westfield's Stanley Park was where the Making Strides organization held its first Western Massachusetts walk.
Many breast cancer survivors made sure they took part in this event.
Katie Lazowski told 22News, “We're just Making the shift into my recovery stage, now we're about to get out, have a walk and want to support a great cause knowing that one in eight women is effected by breast cancer, It's an important issue to me, not only having been through it and knowing there are so many women who have also experienced this.”
Between those who attended the Westfield and Boston walks and several others across Massachusetts, an estimated forty thousand survivors and their families showed their support.
