CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Former Mayor of Chicopee Richard Kos announced on Wednesday he will run for mayor again.
Kos picked up nomination papers Wednesday from the City Clerk's office.
He has until July 30th to return the paperwork with 250 supporting signatures.
Kos is the only person so far who announced mayoral candidacy for November 2013 against incumbent mayor Michael Bissonnette.
Richard Kos told 22News, "Every election is about a city's future, and I care about the City of Chicopee very much, and I'm already looking forward to the opportunity to work hard to make it a better Chicopee."
"Right now we are financially stable. We are the envy of other communities throughout the state, and I'd like to keep it that way. And I'm looking forward to the debate," said Chicopee Mayor Michael Bissonnette.
Kos was elected mayor in 1997. He served until January 2004.
Current Mayor Michael Bissonnette is running for his fifth term.
