SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) - Voters will ultimately choose whether or not they want a casino in their city or town.
Former Connecticut congressman Robert Steele wrote the book, The Curse: Big Time Gambling's Seduction of Small Town New England. Steele spoke to the Springfield Rotary Club today, detailing why he believes casinos would be bad for Springfield.
"What I think this is is a dead end, if you want to make a big bet on the future of the city on something that has proven elsewhere including right to your South in Connecticut on a dead end," said Steele.
Springfield's casino referendum is four days away on Tuesday July 16th.
